Lutsen Mountains is located near Lake Superior and is the largest and highest ski area in mid-America.

The four mountains, interconnected by lifts and trails spread over 1,000 acres, are similar in scale to some Western areas.

Lutsen consists of four mountains with 87 runs on 462 skiable acres, a 988-foot area vertical rise, and an 825 foot lift-serviced vertical rise.

It benefits from the natural snow generated from storms off Lake Superior and boasts the Midwest's largest snowmaking system. Lutsen also has mid-America's only mountain gondola.

Intermediates will enjoy the variety of trails, and experts will not be disappointed. Beginners are offered their own learning area on Ullr Mountain.

Cross-country skiers will find 22 km of groomed and tracked trails.

Amenities at the area include a rental shop, a ski school for all ages and abilities, chalet, and a restaurant.

Lodging options are plentiful, from slopeside condominiums to bed and breakfasts..

To get to Lutsen Mountains from the south or west, take I-35 to Duluth, then Highway 61 Northeast for 90 miles.
