Nestled in a beautiful valley in the magnificent eastern slopes of California's High Sierra, Mammoth is surrounded by snow covered mountain peaks and glittering alpine meadows.

Mammoth -- no other mountain lives up to its name. It is an enormous complex with 27 lifts, 3,500 acres of skiable terrain and 3,100 feet of vertical.

What makes Mammoth so special is its world-famous bowls, gentle groomed trails, steep chutes, secluded tree runs and plenty of California sunshine.

With one of the nation's longest ski seasons (November to June), most dependable snow depths (10 to 15 feet of natural snowpack), highest ski elevations (11,053 feet) and friendliest staff (1,800 courteous employees to assist you), visitors from the first timer to the seasoned pro will be impressed.

Tamarack Ski Center has miles of groomed cross-country trails that wind through the beautiful Lakes Basin. Lessons, rentals, lodging, warming huts and fine dining are all available on the premises.

Sierra Meadows also has groomed trails, rentals and lessons. Homestyle meals and a warming hut are on the premises. The U.S. Forest Service can also provide trail information and points of interest.

Mammoth Mountain and nearby June Mountain offer snowboarding on all runs. June Mountain remains the snowboarding center with its half-pipe, snowboard park, special events and National Championships. Both mountains offer snowboard lessons and racing programs for beginners and experts alike. You also may rent snowboard equipment at all ski area rental shop locations.

Along with fabulous skiing, Mammoth's host of activities enhances everyone's winter experience. After a day of skiing, soar in a hot air balloon, or escape through pine forests on a snowmobile, dog sled or horse-drawn sleigh.

More than 50 restaurants and cafes in town serve everything from gourmet cuisine to the all-American burger. Relax during a romantic candlelit dinner for two or take the whole group out to one of the local pizza parlors.

The selection of nightlife runs the gamut from cool jazz clubs to high-energy rock and roll. Enjoy the evening hours on a lively dance floor or in a comfortable cocktail lounge.

Browse through Mammoth's shops and boutiques filled with the finest ski clothing, equipment and accessories.

It's easy to get to Mammoth by car, plane or bus. No matter which direction you come from, it's a scenic drive via Interstate Highway 395.
